Hank Kim has forged a distinctive career path over the past 20 years, combining journalism/PR experience with brand marketing expertise in traditional and digital advertising as well as in branded entertainment. He brings this broad range of eclectic skill sets to bear to Middle 8 Media, which he launched in 2007 under the aegis of Hank Kim Consulting.

One would be hard-pressed to identify other PR consultants with the diverse set of experiences, expertise and perspectives that Hank has synthesized over the years. This multi-faceted orientation allows him to offer a sophisticated level of thinking and counsel beyond the grasp of much of his competition.

Over the past 5 years, M8M has partnered with a range of established and upstart companies, including but not limited to WPP Group M’s MediaCom North America, Interpublic Group of Cos.’ HUGE, Accordant Media, AudienceScience, Grapeshot, Harris Interactive, IgnitionOne, KineticSocial, SS+K, Traction,  Tremor Media and Videology Group.

Prior to this, Kim was the co-founder and director of MPG Entertainment at MPG USA, a media services unit of Paris-based Havas. Launched in 2004, Kim spearheaded the development of integrated entertainment-based marketing programs for an array of major advertisers including Dannon, Volvo, Sears and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Kim also oversaw strategic corporate communications for MPG USA. Duties included both external press relations/ strategy and internal communications.

Prior to joining MPG, Kim was the launch editor of Madison & Vine, Advertising Age’s successful ground-breaking, multiplatform editorial approach to covering branded entertainment. In addition to serving as launch editor of the M+V online newsletter, he was one of the key organizers and moderators of the successful Madison & Vine conference franchise in Beverly Hills. His journalism career also includes contributions to such editorial brands as Advertising Age, Adweek, Variety, New York Times, NPR and CNN.
